Terms of Service

Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Shownote, operated by 55 Elephants LLC ("Shownote," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Shownote.

What Shownote does

Shownote lets you turn a product URL into a short link and a choice page that routes visitors to the store they prefer, applying your affiliate tags and regional redirects along the way. We may change or improve features over time.

Your account

You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Let us know promptly of any unauthorized use.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Shownote — and not to allow anyone acting on your behalf to use it — to:

• violate any law or regulation, or link to illegal, fraudulent, or infringing destinations;
• post content, or link to destinations, that are pornographic, hateful, harassing, defamatory, or that promote violence;
• misrepresent where a link goes, disguise or cloak a destination, or otherwise deceive the people who click your links;
• engage in affiliate fraud — including cookie stuffing, forced or automated clicks, or inflating clicks in ways that violate an affiliate program's rules;
• falsify, spoof, or manipulate referrer, header, or click data, or otherwise tamper with our analytics;
• send spam or violate anti-spam, telemarketing, or similar laws when distributing your links;
• probe, scan, overload, disrupt, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its underlying systems;
• impersonate any person or organization, or infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights; or
• resell, sublicense, or share access to Shownote without our written permission.

Third-party stores and affiliate links

Shownote redirects visitors to independent third-party merchants. We don't control and aren't responsible for those stores' pricing, availability, fulfillment, content, or policies. Your transactions are between you (or your audience) and those merchants.

Monetization and earnings

If you don't supply your own affiliate credentials and tags, your links will still redirect, but you won't earn a commission on them. We make no guarantee of any revenue or earnings, and we don't guarantee acceptance into any affiliate program — those decisions belong to the programs themselves.

You are responsible for complying with the terms of the affiliate programs you use (for example, Amazon Associates or DriveThruRPG), including any affiliate-disclosure requirements toward your own audience.

Your content

You're responsible for the links, destinations, titles, and images you create with Shownote. You grant us the right to host and display that content as needed to operate the service.

Aggregate analytics

We may use de-identified, aggregated click and usage data to operate, secure, and improve Shownote.

Payments

Any paid plans are billed through Stripe, our payment processor. We don't store your card details on our servers. Fees, billing periods, and any applicable taxes will be disclosed before you subscribe.

Intellectual property

Shownote, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by 55 Elephants LLC and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works from the service except as allowed by these Terms.

Disclaimer of warranties

Shownote is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee any particular revenue, uptime, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, 55 Elephants LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or revenue, arising from your use of Shownote. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 55 Elephants LLC from claims arising out of your use of the service, the links or content you create, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using Shownote at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or to protect the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Shownote after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
