Who we are

Shownote is operated by 55 Elephants LLC ("Shownote," "we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Shownote — including the choice pages and redirect links we host on your behalf — and what we do with it. Questions? Email privacy@getshownote.com.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address through our authentication system. To keep your account secure, our login sessions also record details such as your IP address and browser/user-agent at sign-in.

Click and redirect data. When someone clicks one of the links you create, we record a derived country, a device type (mobile, tablet, or desktop), the operating-system family, the referring site's host, the destination chosen, and a timestamp. We do not store the visitor's raw IP address, and this buyer-side data is anonymous — it is not tied to an identified person.

Product-usage data. For signed-in account holders, we record product-usage events (for example, creating a link) associated with your account so we can operate and improve the service.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number or other sensitive payment details on our servers — that information is handled directly by Stripe under its own terms and privacy policy.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in to your account. We do not use client-side advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Disabling the session cookie will prevent you from logging in.

How we use information

We use the information above to operate the service, authenticate you, generate analytics and monetization-gap reports for your account, secure the service against abuse, and meet our legal obligations.

Who we share information with

We share information with service providers who help us run Shownote — including third-party cloud infrastructure and database providers, a third-party product-analytics provider, and Stripe for payments — and only as needed to provide the service. We may also disclose information when required by law.

Affiliate links

Shownote helps you add your affiliate tags to outbound links and may earn a commission when a purchase is made through a link. The stores we redirect to are independent third parties with their own privacy practices; we are not responsible for their handling of your data.

We don't sell your data

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Unlike some smart-link services, we do not even store the raw IP addresses of the visitors who click your links.

How long we keep data

We keep account information for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations. Click records are retained as aggregate, de-identified history that powers your analytics.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of any "sale" of personal information — which, as noted above, we do not do. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@getshownote.com and we'll respond within a reasonable period. Because buyer click data is anonymous, we may be unable to honor a request we can't connect to specific records.

Children

Shownote is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Changes apply going forward.
